How to choose a wedding ring you love

You have the engagement ring sorted and now it is time to choose the perfect wedding band to go with it. Check out our guide to wedding bands to find a style you can cherish forever.

Narrow Down Your Choices

Narrowing down your choices can feel overwhelming, but don't panic. Just take it one question at the time and you will have a better understanding of what you will be looking for. Start with the style:

  • Do you see yourself with a simple band or one with embellishments?
  • Do you want to have a band that is the same metal as your engagement ring?
  • Do you want your and your partner's ring to match?
  • Would you like to wear your the engagement ring and wedding band on the same hand?

Consider your engagement ring

If you already have your engagement ring, then it will determine a couple of things. If you would like to wear your wedding band together with your engagement ring then it's better to choose the same metal as your ring that you already own. For example if your engagement ring is 18kt gold, then it's better to create a wedding band from the same metal -18kt gold. The reason being is that metals used for jewellery have different hardness to them, therefore a platinum band (platinum being harder then gold) would slowly rub against the gold and potentially damage your engagement ring on the long run.

If you are planning to wear your wedding band alone, then you may find it pleasing to choose a more intricate style wedding band.

Start early

Once you have a basic idea of what you would like to have then the fun process of choosing the exact style begins. Give yourself at least three to four months before the wedding date to browse, research and perfect the custom design with our designer.

Don't be scared to mix it up

Don't worry if your partner likes platinum and your prefer yellow gold. There is no hard and fast rule that you have to choose the same metal or even style for that matter. The most important thing is finding something you both love and will cherish for many years to come.

Think about the budget

Think about how much you would like to spend on your rings considering all the other expenses around the wedding. Based on your budget and choice, we would be happy to help you find the style that you both love.

Keep your lifestyle in mind

Since you will be wearing this ring every day, the goal is to choose something that fits effortlessly into your style. If you work with your hands for example, then you may find simple, solid metal ring without any gemstones or diamonds the best suited to you. Or if you are super active, then maybe its better to consider choosing a platinum band which is extra durable.

Think long term

While you shouldn't be afraid to choose something that is really "in" right now, make sure that you choose a style that you will want to wear for decades to come. Just don't overthink it: you can always change your ring in the future if you want to mark a special anniversary for example.
